The investment and risk management team is well-integrated, with a proven track record of collaboration over many years. The team benefits from a deliberately diverse composition, fostering multiple perspectives and enhancing decision-making capabilities. In a rapidly evolving financial landscape, ALTRAFIN encourages interdisciplinary and critical thinking, ensuring that its approach remains rigorous and adaptive. The firm’s efficient decision-making processes, from initial market analysis to investment execution, enable timely and flexible responses to developments in the global capital markets, particularly in periods of heightened volatility.
ALTRAFIN is led by Managing Directors and Founding Partners Patrick Picenoni and Alessandro Rizzi, CFA, both graduates of the University of St. Gallen with a master’s degree in business administration earned in 1996. Prior to collaborating at a family investment office in the late 1990s, Patrick Picenoni served as a portfolio manager at Morgan Stanley in New York, London, and Zurich, while Alessandro Rizzi worked as a consultant with Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Zurich. The extended management team includes Christian von Veltheim, Pascal Fischbach, and Oliver von Aesch, CFA, all of whom bring additional depth of expertise and leadership.

Patrick Picenoni
Patrick Picenoni is a Founding Partner and Portfolio Manager. He holds a master’s degree in business administration and economics (lic.oec. HSG) from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Following his graduation, Patrick Picenoni served as an analyst and portfolio manager at Morgan Stanley, gaining international experience across New York, London, and Zurich. Prior to founding ALTRAFIN in 2001, he held the position of Senior Portfolio Manager in the Family Investment Office of Beisheim Holding GmbH in Baar, Switzerland.
Alessandro Rizzi, CFA
Alessandro Rizzi, CFA, is a Founding Partner and Portfolio Manager. He earned a master’s degree in business administration (lic. oec. HSG) from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. After completing his studies, Alessandro Rizzi gained professional experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a federally certified tax expert. Prior to co-establishing ALTRAFIN in 2001, he served as Senior Investment Manager at the Family Investment Office of Beisheim Holding GmbH in Baar, Switzerland.
Christian von Veltheim
Christian von Veltheim has been with ALTRAFIN since 2011 and serves on the extended management team. He oversees Risk Management and Compliance for the firm. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Westminster, London, and a master of science (MSc) in Financial Management from the TIAS School of Business, Utrecht, Netherlands.
Oliver von Aesch, CFA
Oliver von Aesch, CFA, joined ALTRAFIN in August 2014. He is an Investment Analyst and a Portfolio Manager at the firm. His responsibilities are centered on investment research for equities and bonds, employing a comprehensive, top-down macroeconomic approach. Oliver von Aesch has over ten years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining ALTRAFIN, he was primarily responsible for complex reporting solutions for high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients at UBS AG. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in Banking and Finance from the Zurich School of Economics and is a CFA Charterholder.
Marc von Waldkirch
Marc von Waldkirch has been with ALTRAFIN since 2020 and leads long-term strategic corporate development projects for the firm. In addition, he is responsible for expanding client portfolios within Switzerland, focusing on entrepreneurs, corporate families, family offices, foundations, and institutional investors with entrepreneurial backgrounds. Marc von Waldkirch holds a master’s degree (M.A. HSG) from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, completed in 2003. He has gained broad professional experience in Wealth Management, Asset Management, Investment Banking, and Private Banking, holding various positions in Wealth Management, Corporate Finance, and Fintech across Zurich, Singapore, and London.
Pascal Fischbach
Pascal Fischbach has been with ALTRAFIN since 2011, focusing on investment research and portfolio management. His expertise covers both equities and bonds, with particular emphasis on credit research and corporate bonds. Prior to joining ALTRAFIN, Pascal Fischbach graduated in business administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, specializing in Banking and Finance (lic. oec. HSG).
Yannik Näf, CFA
Yannik Näf, CFA, has been with ALTRAFIN since August 2022, specializing in investment research. He primarily focuses on the fundamental analysis of equities for both discretionary mandates and ALTRAFIN’s dedicated European family company equity portfolios, collaborating closely with portfolio managers in this capacity. Yannik Näf holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in Banking and Finance from the ZHAW School of Management and Law, Zurich, Switzerland, completed in 2020, and has been a CFA Charterholder since 2024.
